In the settlement, both large and small Sod Houses were discovered, each with there own purposes, from living and cooking to working and storage.

Smaller sod houses were used for storage and working in aside from the main lodge.

An example of what a storage cellar would have looked like at the re-created Viking Port at Norstead, Newfoundland. Norstead is located nearby to LAnse aux Meadows, the only known Norse Viking Settlement in North America dated 1000 A.D, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
